Joy received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance at Crown College in Minnesota. In recognition of her work as a community leader and musician, she was awarded as one of the Worcester Business Journal's 2017 "40 under 40" recipients, and was also named one of "2017's People to Watch" by Pulse Magazine. Joy is very proud of the various accomplishments and honors many of her students have received over the years, including landing lead roles in community/school musicals, acceptance into Berklee School of Music, winning the WCCATV13 New Voice Awards, and being selected for Boston Idol.

After graduating college, Joy returned to her home state of MA to be near family, starting the indie/folk/rock band, “Bright, the Morning,” in 2010 (with bassist Eric L’Esperance of Worcester’s local band “The Promise is Hope”).  “Bright, the Morning” released its first EP album in June 2011, performing at venues throughout Boston and Greater Worcester, including The Palladium, Tammany Hall, The Sinclair, and Boston House of Blues. Joy is most known for her online presence, with over 200,000 YouTube views, and has been featured in several ukulele websites, including “Humble Baritonics,” and “Uke can Play!” Joy currently performs throughout Greater Worcester as a solo artist, as well as with the Women of Worcester Productions and Old Sturbridge Village Singers

Additionally, Joy is the Summer Program Director and Co-Founder of a nonprofit youth and arts organization called, “Main IDEA.” The organization is dedicated to empowering youth and making various art forms (including music) accessible to the Main South neighborhood of Worcester. Her work with Main IDEA has been featured in several news articles throughout recent years, including The Telegram and Gazette, Worcester Magazine, MassMoms.com, Worcester Sun, and Take Magazine. Main IDEA has also been the featured recipient for the Pow!Wow!Worcester! International Art Mural Festival in 2016 and 2017. By combining her love of music with her passion for enriching the lives of Worcester's youth, Joy strives to be a positive influence on the cultivation of the city's music and arts scene and the empowerment of the city's next generation.
