concertPrivate Lessons: We offer individual instruction in every instrument.  Perfect for all ages and abilities.  You do not need to have any experience to start taking private lessons.  Sign up for 30 minute, 45 minute or 1 hour lessons.

*Locations: We offer all instruments in our Worcester location. We offer piano in Holden as well. Our Holden location is located at 800 Main St (on the 2nd floor above the UPS store). Our Holden location is open for lessons only. Please call or email us about lessons in Holden.

**Lesson Frequency: Lessons occur once a week. We do not offer bi-weekly lessons.

Classes and Ensembles: We offer a variety of music classes and ensembles to suit various ages and abilities.  The classes do have a limited enrollment, so make sure you sign up early to get a spot.

Trial Lessons: We are happy to offer one free 30 minute trial lesson to any one who is serious about taking lessons. We do require a credit card number when scheduling a trial lesson. We will only charge your card if you do not show up for the lesson ($40 for the lesson). Trial lessons on additional instruments will be $40 each. Please call to schedule your trial lesson.

Payments and Fees: 

Registration Fees: There is a $40 non-refundable annual registration fee for every student (one registration fee per family). 

Private Lesson Fees:  Private lessons are available in half-hour, forty-five minute and one-hour intervals, although we do recommend forty-five minute and one-hour lessons unless the student is a beginner or younger. Lessons will be billed all at once for the school year (September through June). There is also a summer session (June through August). The school year lasts approximately 36 weeks.  Summer Session is approximately 8 weeks.  The calendar will be posted on the website before the start of each school year. We offer 2 lesson plans

Students may sign up for lessons at any time during the school year.  The tuition will be pro-rated according to the number of lessons left in the year (based on the plan available to you at the time you sign up) plus the registration fee.

Discounts: We offer a family discount to those who have more than one person in a family taking lessons. The first family member pays full price and each subsequent family member will receive 10% off of their lessons (immediate family members only).

Multiple Instrument Discount: If you take lessons on multiple instruments, you will receive a 5% discount on each additional instrument (first instrument is full price and each subsequent instrument will receive the 5% discount).

Classes and Ensemble Fees: Rates for classes and ensembles will be posted for each class. Check class schedule for rates.

Payment: Payment is due in full before the start of lessons, classes and ensembles each session.  Students enrolled in our 10 month lesson plan may select our monthly payment option (payment due before the start of each month). You will be required to sign a monthly agreement form.  Payments may be made by cash, check or credit card.  There will be a fee of $25 for returned checks. There will be a late fee of $15 for payments not received by the 10th of each month.

Withdrawals and Refunds: You are making a commitment for an entire session of lessons (3 or 10 month plans). Refunds will only be issued to students who withdraw from lessons before their first lesson (minus the registration fee). All students must notify the office with 30 days' notice if he/she decides to withdraw from private lessons after lessons have begun (payment for last 30 days must be made whether you take the lessons or not). Notifying the teacher does not constitute notification of withdrawal. For classes and ensembles, 100% refunds will be given if a student withdraws before classes and ensembles begin. Once classes and ensembles begin there are no refunds. Please refer to the withdrawal policies specific to your lesson plan as there may additional fees.

Absences (Private Lessons): Very Important - Please Read Thoroughly

Student Absences: We have highly trained and committed teachers who reserve your lesson time for you each week. Since we ask them to set aside this time for your lessons, we ask that students make a commitment to their lessons and attend weekly. Students will be allowed 2 excused absences if enrolled in our 10 month plan. Excused absences include illness, family emergencies, performances in school concerts, college testing (SATs, ACTs) and college interviews, and religious holidays. Should you need to miss a lesson, we ask for at least 24 hours' notice (we understand that if you are sick you may not be able to cancel 24 hours in advance, but we do ask that you call us as early as possible if this is the case). We will do our best to schedule a makeup lesson for the allotted excused absences (we will only makeup 2 lessons total for the year). If we cannot, we will credit the lesson. Any additional absences will be considered unexcused and will not be made up. Absences must be reported to the office, not to the teacher. Lessons cancelled less than 24 hours in advance will be forfeited and no makeup lesson will be offered. There are no makeup lessons or credits for cancelled makeup lessons. If you are enrolled in our 10 month plan and you must withdraw from lessons, we ask that you give us 30 days' notice* (payment for the last 30 days must be made regardless of whether you take the lessons or not). We will do our best to fit you back into the teacher's schedule should you return, but we will not be able to save your day and time unless you continue to pay for lessons while you are gone. *Please note that our withdrawal policies depend on the lesson plan you select. Additional fees may be charged if you withdraw from lessons. Please see Lesson Plans for more information. Please note that some of our teachers have full schedules which may also affect these policies. We will provide you with studio specific policies if this is the case.

Teacher Absences: If a teacher has to cancel a lesson, the lesson will be made-up or credited.  Every attempt will be made to reschedule the lesson, but if that proves to be impossible, the lesson will be credited to the next session’s tuition.  The school will notify you if your teacher is sick or must cancel a lesson for any reason.  Please make sure to provide the school with current day and evening phone numbers so you can be notified.

Make-up Lesson/Credit Policies: Make-up lessons will be given for excused absences cancelled 24 hours in advance only (see student absences).  These lessons will be scheduled upon the teacher’s availability.  If a make-up lesson is impossible, a credit will be issued towards the next session’s tuition.  If a make-up lesson is scheduled and the student does not show up for the lesson or cancels the lesson, the lesson is forfeited, will not be rescheduled and no credit will be issued for the missed lesson.

Commitment: Music lessons are like any other activity you/your child participates in. We ask you to make a commitment for the entire school year (or the specific plan you sign up for) when you register (or the remainder of the school year if you register mid-year). This is important for many reasons: first, it takes a while to really get comfortable playing your instrument (or singing) and learning the foundations of music. Progress is more evident over months and years, not days and weeks. Second, we are asking our teachers to make a commitment to you as well, and as a result, they are dedicating that day and time for you. This is one of their primary means of income and we want to respect that by providing them with a consistent lesson schedule throughout the year. If for some reason you cannot continue lessons or need to take an extended break (serious illness, extended vacations, etc), we ask that you give us 30 day's notice. We will do our best to fit you back into the teacher's schedule upon your return, but we will not be able to save your day and time unless you continue to pay for lessons while you are gone.

Absences (Classes and Ensembles):

Student Absences: All absences must be reported to the office.  Since classes and ensembles are dependent on the group, no make-ups or credits will be offered if a student misses a class or ensemble.

Teacher Absences:  If a teacher has to cancel a class or an ensemble, every attempt will be made to make-up the class or ensemble.  If the class or ensemble cannot be rescheduled, a credit will be issued toward next session’s tuition.

Weather Cancellations:
All weather cancellations will be posted on our website as well as on the school voicemail and Facebook page.  The school will make-up or credit one private lesson per session as a result of a weather cancellation.  Additional closings will not be made-up or credited.  Classes and ensembles missed as a result of a weather cancellation will not be made-up or credited.

It is important for students to practice between lessons and ensembles.  Your teacher will guide you on how best to practice, how long to practice, and how often.  Parents should discuss practicing expectations with the teachers in order to encourage and support the students at home.  If at any time you feel that your child if having difficulties, please arrange an appointment with the teacher and/or with the director.  We want this to be a positive, supportive, encouraging and inspiring experience.

Throughout the year, the school will put on a variety of concerts.  Students and their immediate family can attend these concerts free of charge.  We encourage students to attend as many concerts as they can.  This reinforces what is being taught in the lessons and it inspires and encourages the students.  It also gives them an opportunity to support their fellow students and to see professional musicians perform (their teachers).
